Around the World and Beyond: The Unique Hybrid Approach of IDSVA

IDSVA, a one-of-a-kind institution without a campus, has been providing students and faculty with an intense and enriching learning experience through its hybrid approach. Recent residencies in Mexico City, Athens, and Marrakech have been particularly successful in providing students with a rich learning experience.

One of the many benefits of IDSVA’s hybrid approach is that it allows students to continue working on their commitments while pursuing their studies. Maggie McKee, a PhD candidate from Cohort ’20, found the program’s structure to be perfect for her lifestyle as an international teacher. She appreciated the balance between online coursework and in-person residencies that allowed her to pursue her studies while still fulfilling her teaching obligations.

Monica Bryant from Cohort ’21 also praised the program’s hybrid nature, calling it the ideal PhD program she would create herself. She was impressed by how well the program combined online coursework with intensive residencies around the world.

For Rikiesha Metzger, another PhD candidate from Cohort ’19, IDSVA’s blend of online coursework and in-person residencies has taken her on an exciting journey across the world. She appreciates the opportunity to study and learn from fellow participants in unique locations like Mexico City. Amy Schuessler from Cohort ’20 echoes this sentiment, emphasizing how magical it is to travel and study in such unique locations while still pursuing a PhD degree.

Elliot Bowers from Cohort ’21 feels privileged to be part of IDSVA’s community and engage in challenging conversations with fellow participants around the world. His testimonial highlights just how enriching and transformative IDSVA can be for its students.
