Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun to retire in 2024

As a result of increased scrutiny following quality control issues that came to light after a piece of an Alaska Airlines jet fell off during a flight in January, Boeing is facing a major shakeup. This includes the departure of three of its top executives: CEO Dave Calhoun, board chair Larry Kellner, and head of commercial airplanes Stan Deal.

Dave Calhoun, who joined Boeing’s board of directors 10 years ago and took over as CEO in 2020, is known for his operational skills, direct communication style, and crisis management expertise. However, the incident with the Alaska Airlines plane and subsequent revelations about Boeing’s manufacturing and quality control processes have prompted the need for new leadership. Calhoun has announced that he will leave at the end of 2024.

Larry Kellner has also announced that he will not seek re-election at the upcoming shareholder meeting. He served as chairman of Boeing since 2017 and was instrumental in leading the company through a period of significant change and growth. Kellner is highly respected in the business community for his leadership abilities and strategic vision.

Commercial airplanes CEO Stan Deal will retire from the company effective Monday. He has been with Boeing since 1983 and has held various leadership positions within the company throughout his career. Deal is known for his technical expertise and ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

This situation is still unfolding and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
