Bridging the Gap: Delta College’s Electron Microscopy Program Fuels Lucrative Career Paths for Diverse Aspiring Scientists

In the heart of Stockton, Delta College is training the next generation for lucrative careers in the world of science. During a free open house, the Eyes of Science display showcased the power and potential of electron microscopy, with instructor Jose Jimenez explaining how it can be used to observe cell structures at an atomic level.

Jimenez has been passing on his knowledge to students like Logan Gorham, who never expected to find their passion in microscopy. The program, which currently has 20 enrolled students this semester, boasts a diverse group of individuals from the local community. For Cassidy Altimari, the proximity and accessibility of the program were a stroke of luck – she was able to secure a job soon after completing it and now works in cutting-edge fields like electric batteries at QuantumScape in San Jose.

The success of the program has led to plans for expansion on campus to accommodate more students. Rachaellien Trinh, program director, aims to fill more seats and change the educational landscape at Delta College. Graduates of the program have seen a significant increase in their earnings, reflecting the value and impact of the training they receive at Delta College’s electron microscopy program.

In conclusion, Delta College’s electron microscopy program is providing unique opportunities for aspiring scientists from all walks of life to pursue lucrative careers in various scientific fields. With its focus on practical training and hands-on experience mentored by Hitachi, this program is shaping up to be one of the most valuable investments for those seeking a career in science.
