The Lakewood Health System in Staples recently announced the construction of a new cancer center, set to be completed by the summer of 2025. The 19,270 square-foot addition will be located just southwest of the clinic, with its groundbreaking scheduled for the upcoming spring.
The decision to move forward with the Cancer Center was made due to the significant growth of Lakewood’s oncology team and services over the past two years. Additionally, there has been a steady increase in provider coverage, making an expansion necessary.
Among its amenities, the Cancer Center will have a dedicated reception and waiting area, with oncology case managers conveniently located within the new space for easy access to patients. The project is a significant step for the local healthcare system and will greatly benefit the community.
The state-of-the-art Cancer Center will feature 14 infusion bays, an in-house PET/CT scan machine, and other advanced facilities. The addition of a facility like the Cancer Center in a rural setting like Staples is unprecedented, benefiting both patients and healthcare workers.
