Celebrating the Future of Healthcare: Texas Tech Health El Paso Hosts Dual Commencement Ceremonies for Nursing and Biomedical Sciences Graduates

On Saturday, May 4th, Texas Tech Health El Paso will be hosting two commencement ceremonies to celebrate the achievements of its graduates from the Hunt School of Nursing and the Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The ceremony for the Hunt School of Nursing began at 9:30 a.m. at the Starlight Event Center, while the Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences ceremony is set to start at 4 p.m. at the Medical Sciences Building II.

Texas Tech Health El Paso has been recognized for its innovative education that addresses the critical nursing shortage in the region. Around 90% of nursing school graduates choose to practice within the Borderplex region after completing their education. The institution’s yearly economic impact is $634 million, highlighting its transformative role in El Paso.

The Hunt School of Nursing ceremony will honor 72 students who have earned their bachelor of science in nursing. The school’s Dean, Stephanie L. Woods, Ph.D., R.N., will give this year’s keynote address, while Board of Regents member Pat Gordon will deliver remarks.

The Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will recognize 29 students who have shown exceptional commitment to advancing biomedical research and sciences. Diego Pedroza, Ph.D., an alumnus of the school, will be the keynote speaker for the ceremony.

Both ceremonies mark a significant milestone in the graduates’ careers as they embark on their journey in healthcare. For more updates on news, weather, sports, and streaming video, visit KTSM 9 News
