Discovering New Horizons: McGill’s Soup & Science Weekly Event Inspires Undergraduate Students

McGill undergraduate students recently gathered at the 37th edition of Soup & Science, a week-long event that brings together knowledge and warmth in a unique blend. This semester’s topics spanned various disciplines, from quantum meta-photonics to optogenetic stimulation in roundworms, providing students with a wide array of subjects to explore in an intimate setting.

Held at the SSMU Building, the event featured presentations from three to four faculty speakers and one or two student speakers. Each presenter discussed their project in a short four to five-minute segment, allowing students to gain insight into the research opportunities available at McGill, including undergraduate research awards. This popular series gives students a taste of the current research being conducted at the University and provides a platform for engagement and learning.

With a diverse range of topics covered and opportunities for interaction with faculty and fellow students, Soup & Science serves as a valuable resource for undergraduate students looking to further their academic and research pursuits. Overall, this event provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn about cutting-edge research taking place at McGill and explore potential research opportunities available to them.
