China Dominates Night 1 with Two Medals

The 2024 World Aquatic Championships in Doha began with China leading the medal table. The Chinese women’s 400 freestyle team captured gold, with Li Bingjie winning silver in the event. Meanwhile, the Chinese men’s 4×100 free relay team set a new world record and won gold.

On Day 1, South Korea also won a gold medal in the men’s 200 individual medley, while Italy took home silver in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle event. Germany and Canada each had one bronze medal each on Day 1.

As of now, China still leads the medal table with one gold, while New Zealand has just joined them with a win in the women’s 4×100 freestyle relay event. The Netherlands also have a gold medal after upsetting Australia in the women’s 4×100 freestyle relay event. Australia and Germany are currently tied for second place with two silver medals each.
