The world’s first Dragon Ball Z theme park is being constructed in Saudi Arabia

At the 2019 Gamescom gaming trade fair in Cologne, Germany, attendees had the chance to test out the latest version of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. The popular game generated a lot of excitement among fans and gamers alike, who were eager to experience the thrilling new features.

Recently, Saudi Arabia announced plans to build its first-ever Dragon Ball Z theme park as part of its Qiddiya project. This massive entertainment venue will span over 5.3 million square feet and will feature seven different areas inspired by the original Japanese anime television series. In addition to themed rides, hotels, and restaurants, the park will also have five “world first” attractions, including a 230-foot-high roller coaster named Shenron after the series’ magical dragon.

Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily in video games and anime. Collaborations between Japan-based Toei Animation and MiSK, a foundation established by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, have led to new anime movies. The Saudi Public Investment Fund, a major shareholder in Nintendo, has also shown interest in these industries.

Qiddiya aims to become a major tourist destination with over 400 specific attractions including golf courses, theme parks, and hotels. With plans to host millions of visitors annually, the city is part of the kingdom’s efforts to diversify its economy away from oil dependence. The Vision 2030 project, spearheaded by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has set ambitious goals for tourism in Saudi Arabia, with a target of 150 million tourists by 2030.
