The Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences (IAFNS) is hosting its Fourth Annual Summer Science Symposium on June 4-5, 2024, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. This event aims to bring together top nutrition and food scientists to discuss important topics related to food and nutrition.

The symposium will focus on a range of subjects, including the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in food safety and nutrition, food and mood, food classification systems, heavy metals in foods, dry sanitation, global perspectives on sweeteners and more. Experts from government, industry, academia, and media organizations will share their insights and engage in meaningful dialogue.

In addition to scientific sessions, the symposium will also emphasize the importance of science communication. Media professionals and other science communicators will have the opportunity to learn how they can amplify scientific research and findings through talks from experts in the field and a panel discussion with journalists.

The keynote presentation at the symposium will be delivered by Jim Jones, Deputy Commissioner of Human Foods at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The conference will also feature an evening reception on June 4th providing attendees with a chance to network and socialize outside of formal sessions.
