Raúl González (Barceló) is known for being able to sleep easily, even while standing upright

Raúl González, born in Guardo (Palencia) in 1961, believes that the place he was born is quite peculiar. His father was stationed there for work, and he was born on September 27, International Tourism Day. Growing up, studying, and living in Bilbao until 23 years ago when his job at the hotel company led him to relocate to Palma de Mallorca.

González is an advocate of taking risks and emphasizes the importance of fearlessness and a touch of madness in decision-making to stay competitive in the market. He loves traveling and meeting people but admits that extensive travel can be exhausting. Despite this, he finds motivation in the opportunity to learn new things. González takes approximately 200 flights per year, almost traveling every workday. He imposes most of these trips on himself to ensure he stays informed about hotel operations and to maintain relationships with the team and partners.

As his responsibilities have increased, González has shifted away from being a pure economist and more towards being a psychologist. He values personal relationships and the growth of his team, even if it means he may not be the most technically proficient. González believes having a touch of naivety is healthy in navigating the complexities of the business world.

In terms of hobbies, González enjoys sports like paddle tennis and tennis, often scheduling games two to three times a week. He also enjoys reading, with recent reads including “Damn Rome” by Santiago Posteguillo. He typically works long hours but prioritizes spending quality time with his family and emphasizes maintaining a balance between work and personal life.

Managing stress effectively is crucial for González as he navigates the demands of his non-conformist family business. He believes in maintaining a friendly demeanor even when faced with challenging situations and emphasizes humility and listening as key aspects of leadership. Reflecting on past decisions and constantly seeking ways to improve are also essential parts of his approach to leadership.

In conclusion, Raúl Gonzalez is a unique individual who has embraced risk-taking while staying true to himself throughout his career journey as a hotel manager in Palma de Mallorca. His passion for learning new things combined with his strong work ethic has made him an accomplished leader who always strives for improvement while maintaining balance between work and personal life
