Researchers from around the world are working tirelessly to improve our understanding of mental health and develop new treatments for those in need. Carina Heller, who leads the Department of Clinical Psychology at Friedrich Schiller University Jena in Germany, is one such researcher. Her team collaborates with the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Jena University Hospital, as well as the Center for Intervention and Research on adaptive and maladaptive brain Circuits underlying mental health (C-I-R-C) in Halle, Germany. They are also part of the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) in Jena-Magdeburg-Halle.

In Boston, MA, US, Zora Kikinis from the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is involved in psychiatric research alongside Claudia Barth from the Department of Psychiatric Research at Diakonhjemmet Hospital in Oslo, Norway. Meanwhile, researchers such as Tim J. Silk and Nandita Vijayakumar from Deakin University and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne are studying early emotional development in children. Nandita Vijayakumar also works at the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne.

In Spain, Susana Carmona and Magdalena Martínez-García from the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Gregorio Marañón and Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Salud Mental (CIBERSAM) are engaged in mental health research. Lastly, the Imaging Genetics Center at the University of Southern California in Marina del Rey and the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA, US are also conducting research in this field, led by researchers such as Nicole Petersen.
