According to Massachusetts authorities, a Globe War I-era plane crashed and overturned onto its roof throughout a landing try outdoors a military history museum. The incident occurred on September 17, 2023. Luckily, the pilot emerged unharmed.
The vintage Nieuport 28, a single-engine aircraft, was attempting to land at the American Heritage Museum in Stow when its front landing gear malfunctioned, resulting in the accident. Each the nearby police and fire chiefs issued a joint news release explaining the scenario.
Fortunately, the pilot managed to exit the plane ahead of emergency responders arrived at the scene. Their identity has not been disclosed. Even though the pilot reported no injuries, they have been evaluated as a precautionary measure.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been informed about the crash and will probably conduct an investigation. The museum was hosting a Globe War I and Aviation living history occasion at the time, which showcased different aircraft, like the 1918 Nieuport 28 – touted as the oldest flying and initially American fighter – alongside planes from Globe War II.
