Hitachi Vantara Collaborates with NVIDIA to Advance Artificial Intelligence Innovation

Hitachi Vantara, a leading provider of data storage, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud management solutions, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with NVIDIA to develop innovative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. This collaboration will result in a portfolio of products called Hitachi iQ, which aims to simplify the process of generating AI-driven results by combining industry-specific capabilities with existing AI technologies to deliver more relevant outcomes for individual businesses.

As businesses increasingly adopt data-intensive technologies such as generative AI, they face additional challenges on their IT environments. A recent report from S&P Global Market Intelligence revealed that only a third of respondents believe their companies can consistently handle internal demand for AI workloads. The partnership between Hitachi Vantara and NVIDIA is designed to address these challenges by introducing hybrid cloud-enabled AI capabilities to accelerate the generation of business insights.

Sheila Rohra, CEO of Hitachi Vantara, emphasized the significance of the partnership, highlighting the company’s ability to leverage its broad expertise across various industry sectors to support the acceleration of AI-driven digital transformation. This collaboration will merge NVIDIA’s AI leadership with Hitachi Vantara’s expertise in hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions and services to help customers overcome future challenges and establish a solid foundation for data-driven innovation.

The first product in the Hitachi iQ portfolio, powered by NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, is set to launch in the first quarter of Hitachi’s fiscal year commencing in April 2024. This certified NVIDIA DGX BasePOD solution will include NVIDIA DGX H100 systems and NVIDIA software AI Enterprise, offering a cutting-edge AI architecture for handling complex AI workloads.

Charlie Boyle, vice president of DGX platforms at NVIDIA explained that companies across all industries are establishing AI centers for data intelligence. With Hitachi Vantara’s solutions powered by NVIDIA DGX software and infrastructure, customers will be able to establish AI centers of excellence and enhance their generative AI strategies. As part of a broader collaboration with NVIDIA, Hitachi will focus on developing industry-specific generative AI models particularly for Operational Technology (OT), positioning itself as a leading company in providing tailored AI solutions to support businesses in their data-driven digital transformations.
