ICC Thanks BCCI for Hosting Record-Breaking Cricket World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed its gratitude to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for hosting the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, making it the biggest tournament to date. The tournament was held from October 5th to November 19th across ten host cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.

The 2023 World Cup attracted a packed crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and set attendance records across broadcast and digital platforms. It brought together the fervent passion for cricket in India with national pride for all competing nations, creating a truly global sporting event that captivated fans around the world.

ICC Chair Greg Barclay commended the success of the event and thanked BCCI for delivering an exceptional World Cup experience. He also extended his appreciation to Match Officials and ICC staff for their contribution to its success as well as to all ten participating teams for making it a memorable one. Barclay congratulated India and Australia on their thrilling final match and commended Australia on securing their sixth title at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
