IMF Discusses Continued Support for Ukraine’s Economy in Kyiv Meetings

A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is currently holding meetings with Ukrainian authorities and other partners in Kyiv to discuss ongoing support for the country’s economy. The team, led by Uma Ramakrishnan, Deputy Director of the IMF’s European Department, will be focusing on the economic policy objectives of the Ukrainian authorities and the challenges facing their economy.

On February 13th, the IMF team will participate in the inaugural meeting of the Steering Committee of the Ukraine Capacity Building Fund. This gathering will include Ukrainian authorities, development partners, and IMF staff to discuss priorities for enhancing Ukraine’s capacity and the IMF’s support for this task.

Following these discussions, an IMF mission led by Gavin Gray will begin talks with Ukrainian authorities in Warsaw as part of the third review of the IMF-supported Extended Fund Facility (EFF). Ukraine received a tranche worth about $900 million from the IMF under this program in December 2023.

As previously reported, the IMF announced that Ukraine would require funding in 2024 to continue its economic development trajectory.
