Isaiah Harris contributes to world record-setting DMR relay with impressive leg run

Isaiah Harris, a Lewiston native, played a key role in helping the Brooks Beasts set a world record in the distance medley relay at the Oregon Relays. The event took place at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Harris was responsible for running the 800-meter leg of the DMR, which the Beasts finished in an impressive 9 minutes, 14.58 seconds.

The primary goal of three professional teams that entered the race was to break the previous world record of 9:15.50, which had been set in 2015. Competing against the Beasts on Friday were the DMR All-Stars and the Wannabeast. The stage was set for an exciting and competitive race.

Brannon Kidder kicked off the race for Brooks by completing the 1,200 meters in 2:49.6. He was followed by Brandon Miller, who ran a 46.6-second 400, increasing the Beasts’ lead over the other teams. Harris then took over and ran his leg with impressive times, extending Brooks’ lead even further.

With a solid lead built by his teammates, Harris made a clean handoff to Henry Wynne, who was tasked with finishing the final 1,600 meters of the race. In the last 200 meters, Wynne pulled away from the pace lights that indicated the previous record pace. He finished his leg in 3:52.64, surpassing the 2015 record by nearly a second. The team’s effort and teamwork paid off with a new world record set by the Brooks Beasts.
