Negotiators for a truce between Israel and Hamas are meeting in Cairo as another day of confrontation begins in the Middle East. Delegations from both parties arrived in Egypt to resume talks on a ceasefire agreement. Israeli tanks and troops entered the southern city of Gaza and seized the border crossing with Egypt, blocking the flow of aid into the enclave. CIA head William Burns is set to visit Israel for talks with Prime Minister Netanyahu.

An IDF spokesperson stated that the conflict in Gaza may last up to a year due to the difficulty of the situation. The spokesperson emphasized the ongoing threats posed by Hamas and reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to responding to terrorism wherever it may arise.
