Israel strongly condemns the recent decision by the UN Security Council to grant full membership to the Palestinians in the United Nations. As a result, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that ambassadors from countries in favor of this decision would be summoned for a meeting. This includes ambassadors from France, Japan, South Korea, Malta, the Slovak Republic, and Ecuador.
The Israeli government believes that this decision is a “bonus for terrorism” and will not accept the establishment of a terrorist state that poses a threat to its citizens. They argue that recognizing a Palestinian state within the United Nations, without an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, is not the right approach.
The United States, a key ally of Israel, used its right of veto during the Security Council vote to prevent the Palestinians from gaining full membership. They maintain that the recognition of a Palestinian state should come from a bilateral agreement and not be decided within the United Nations.
In response to the vote, Israel will be expressing strong protests to the ambassadors of countries that supported the Palestinians’ bid for full membership. They see this decision as a dangerous step that could escalate the conflict in the region and put Israeli citizens at risk.
