The 2024 Men’s Basketball Transfer Portal is an exciting way to keep up with player movement in the offseason, and it is sponsored by Three Notch’d Brewing. With JMU’s recent graduations and head coach Mark Byington’s departure, the Dukes are expected to make some significant additions through the transfer portal.

Terrence Edwards, the 2023-24 Sun Belt Player of the Year who averaged 17.2 points per game, has explored the option of turning professional but is also listed in the transfer portal in case he decides to stay in college. Another departure from the team is Xavier Brown, a sophomore guard who played a key role in the Dukes’ success during his second season. The report of his departure was first reported by Verbal Commits.

Jaylen Carey, a freshman big man who served as a reliable backup to T.J. Bickerstaff, has entered the transfer portal as well. With his size and shooting ability, he is expected to receive offers from high-major programs.

As of now, there have been no new additions to the JMU men’s basketball team through the transfer portal. However, it is important to keep checking back for updates on potential new players that could be joining the program soon.
