Jury goes into deliberation for Hunter Biden trial

The twelve-member jury in the trial of Hunter Biden, the son of the American president, decided to withdraw from deliberating on his guilt or innocence on Monday. Biden, who is 54 years old, is facing charges for violating the weapons law and could potentially face 25 years in prison. The prosecutor, Derek Hines, stated that the evidence against Biden’s son is “overwhelming” and suggested that it clearly showed his history of drug addiction. Despite this, Biden has maintained his plea of not guilty.

The indictment against Hunter Biden accuses him of making false statements on forms to obtain firearms in 2018, allegedly concealing his drug addiction. This is the first time that the child of a sitting American president has been charged with a crime. If convicted, Biden’s son could face a lengthy prison sentence, although it is unlikely to result in actual jail time. President Biden has stated that he will not use his presidential pardon power if his son is convicted.

The jury in the trial went home on Monday afternoon and will resume their deliberations on Tuesday morning. The decision of whether Hunter Biden is guilty or innocent will be a significant moment in this high-profile case that has garnered widespread attention.
