Dodgers, Braves, and Astros Favorited to Win 2024 World Series Title as MLB Season Begins

In the 2024 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged as the clear favorites to win after an impressive offseason. DraftKings Sportsbook recently released their odds for the upcoming season, with the Dodgers leading the pack at +350. The Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros are closely behind at +450 and +750, respectively. On the other hand, the 2023 World Series teams, Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks, are further down the list at +1500 and +4000, respectively.

The Dodgers made significant moves during the offseason to create what many are calling a modern-day superteam. They secured a historic 10-year, $700 million deal with two-time American League MVP Shohei Ohtani, adding him to a lineup that already boasts former MVPs Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. Additionally, they signed highly sought-after Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto and acquired Tyler Glasnow from Tampa Bay Rays to strengthen their rotation while Clayton Kershaw recovers from shoulder surgery.

Despite being a dominant force in MLB for years, the Dodgers have not found postseason success in recent seasons since winning the 2020 World Series. Even with over 100 wins in each of the past two seasons, they were eliminated in NLDS both times. It remains to be seen if this team can deliver on their status as frontrunners for the World Series in 2024.

During their recent offseason moves, Los Angeles has built a lineup that is expected to be one of the most formidable in baseball. With Ohtani’s addition to an already potent lineup featuring Betts and Freeman, this team has become even more dangerous on offense.

Moreover, with Yamamoto’s signing and Glasnow’s acquisition, this team has a strong rotation that will help them navigate through tough games throughout regular season play.

The Dodgers have been one of MLB’s top teams for several years now; however, they have not had much success in postseason play since winning it all in 2021. Despite this setback last year when they were knocked out of NLDS by San Diego Padres despite having over 96 wins under their belt.

With Ohtani’s addition to an already impressive roster featuring Freeman and Betts as well as Yamamoto’s signing and Glasnow’s acquisition this offseason; it looks like Los Angeles is well positioned to take home another title.

However only time will tell if these new acquisitions will translate into championship success on field or not
