A bear that was spotted in a tree at Walt Disney World park in Orlando has led to the closure of several rides and attractions. The bear was seen near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland of Magic Kingdom, as reported by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Biologists from FWC suggest that the bear was probably searching for food since this time of year, bears tend to accumulate fat reserves for the winter. Typically, the best practice is to allow the bear enough space and time to move along on its own. However, due to the bear’s presence in a theme park filled with people, FWC staff are currently working on capturing and relocating the bear.
As a result of the bear sighting, Disney’s official My Disney Experience App listed several attractions as temporarily closed. These included Big Thunder Mountain, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Family Tree House, Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid, Walt Disney World Railroad, and Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. This precautionary measure ensures the safety of visitors and staff at the park.
