Ravens tight end Mark Andrews is undergoing surgery today on his high-ankle sprain, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Media. The surgery is being performed by foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte. Andrews is expected to be out for the year, with a small chance of returning if Baltimore advances far in the playoffs.

In the absence of Andrews, the Ravens will be counting on Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar at the tight end position. Andrews has had an impressive season with 45 receptions for 544 yards and six touchdowns. He has also been selected to the Pro Bowl for the past two seasons.

Coach John Harbaugh expressed some optimism after an MRI showed that the injury wasn’t as bad as initially feared, leaving the door open for a potential return. However, it remains to be seen whether Andrews will be able to recover in time for a possible playoff run.
