Mark S. Wrighton, a James and Mary Wertsch Distinguished University Professor at Washington University in St. Louis, has been appointed as the chair of the Saint Louis Science Center’s board of commissioners. His term began on January 1st. In his new role, Wrighton collaborates closely with the Science Center’s president to enhance the institution.
The Saint Louis Science Center is committed to making science, technology, engineering, and math accessible to individuals in the St. Louis region and beyond through interactive experiences. It is one of only a few free nonprofit science museums in the country that attracts nearly half a million visitors annually, making it one of the largest science centers in the U.S. and abroad.
Prior to his university administration experience, Wrighton had extensive research accomplishments in photochemistry, surface chemistry, and electrochemistry. He previously served as a member of the Science Center’s board of commissioners and for many years as a member of its board of trustees.
