Salisbury, Maryland is experiencing significant growth, with many Haitian entrepreneurs eager to start and grow businesses in the area. The community has seen an influx of Haitian immigrants who are looking to make a better life for themselves and their families. These entrepreneurs face unique challenges such as language barriers, lack of education, and knowledge, making it difficult for them to navigate the world of business on their own.

In response to this need, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and the Haitian Business Association of the Eastern Shore Inc. organized a small business workshop. The event was designed to provide answers and resources to these entrepreneurs, helping them overcome the challenges they face and achieve their business goals and visions.

The workshop covered a range of topics including access to capital, grant opportunities, and technical support. It aimed to provide Haitian business owners with the tools they need to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace. The event was well attended by Haitian entrepreneurs who were eager to learn more about how they could start and grow their businesses successfully.

Maryland Capital Enterprises has allocated $150,000 in funding specifically for Haitian business owners on the shore. The organization offers loans ranging from $5,000-$10,000 to help these entrepreneurs get started or expand their existing businesses. The goal is to build trust within the Haitian community and make them aware of the resources available to help them succeed in business.

Becoming a business owner provides Haitian entrepreneurs with a new sense of freedom,” says Maryline Pierre-Louis, president of the Haitian Business Association (HBA). “They are motivated to provide a better life for their families, achieve independence, and financial freedom.” The organization aims to continue supporting these entrepreneurs by providing them with technical assistance, one-on-one counseling
