Maren Louridas, a sophomore at the Naval Academy, has been recognized for her outstanding performance both on and off the basketball court. She was recently named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, adding to her previous selection to the 2023-24 Patriot League All-Academic Team.
Louridas has been a standout player for the Navy basketball team since her freshman year. She has started in 60 out of a possible 61 games and scored 528 points for an average of 8.7 points per game. Her one-on-one defense skills have earned her recognition from coaches and fans alike, and she has played significant minutes in both seasons, averaging 31.9 minutes per game, which currently ranks fifth all-time in Navy’s career record book.
Louridas is not just known for her athletic prowess but also for her academic excellence. She maintains a 4.0 GPA in cyber operations over her first three semesters at the Naval Academy and has received three Commandant’s List accolades and was named to the 2022-23 Patriot League Honor Roll.
The Navy basketball program had a successful season as well, with one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in NCAA Division I. The team increased their win total by 13 games and finished in a four-way tie for fifth place in the Patriot League, just one game out of second place.
