New cancer center opens in West Central Indiana by Franciscan Health

Franciscan Health Cancer Center Lafayette has opened its doors and is now serving patients in Tippecanoe County. As the largest comprehensive cancer center in the area, the center offers screenings, diagnostics, and treatments in one centralized location. Terry Wilson, the president and CEO of Franciscan Health Western Indiana, emphasizes that the new building and updated technology allow for the best possible care for cancer patients in the community.

The $43 million investment has resulted in a three-story, 68,000 square foot facility that aims to provide outstanding care and exceptional service to patients and their families. Maria Vought, director of the oncology service line at the center, highlights the importance of reduced travel time for patients and the ability to receive treatment closer to home, allowing for stronger connections with family members who want to be involved in the patient’s care.

In addition to medical services, the center offers wrap-around support including financial aid, transportation assistance, and case management. Looking ahead, Wilson expresses interest in collaborating with Purdue University to conduct clinical trials that may lead to improved treatment options for patients. Overall, Franciscan Health Cancer Center Lafayette is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to individuals facing cancer in the community.
