Albemarle Business Center Advances to Second Round of Million-Dollar Grant Process – The Stanly News & Press

The Albemarle Business Center has successfully passed the initial round of selection for a million-dollar grant program. This announcement was made at a recent meeting of the Stanly County Economic Development Commission by director Candice Lowder. The grant program, established by the North Carolina General Assembly and run by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), will provide $10 million for the next fiscal year. The SelectSites Readiness Program aims to identify up to 15 sites, with specific criteria regarding size.

Lindsey Almond, director of the Albemarle Economic Development Commission, expressed enthusiasm over the center’s selection, emphasizing the benefits of being selected for the grant program. The business center, already classified as a SmartSite through Electricities, had several documents in place which aided its selection. A site visit was conducted at the Albemarle Business Center in February by a potential company.

Meanwhile, Charles Curcio, the sports editor of the Stanly News & Press, has been in the role for over 16 years. He has received multiple awards for his work in sports journalism and has written numerous news and feature stories during his career. Charles was honored with the NCHSAA Tim Stevens Media Representative of the Year award and was named CNHI Sports Editor of the Year in 2014. Additionally, he has received an award from Boone Newspapers and has won four North Carolina Press Association awards.
