NFL approves new rules for penalty enforcement on turnovers

In this year’s league meeting, the NFL will be introducing a new set of rules. One of the key changes that will be announced is a ban on hip-drop tackles. In addition to this, there will also be a change in how fouls are enforced on plays resulting in a change of possession.

The Competition Committee proposed a major change that would allow penalties for major fouls committed by the offense to be enforced on plays when both teams commit fouls. This was done to ensure consistency in enforcing major fouls and not ignoring offenses in these situations.

On Monday, the NFL officially approved this proposal through a vote by team owners. The change requires two-thirds of the league’s teams to approve before it becomes official rulebook material.

Another important change that was approved is allowing teams an additional challenge if their first two challenges are successful. This gives teams more opportunities to challenge incorrect calls on the field and ensures fairness in gameplay.
