Marquette Junior Hockey and Northern Michigan University have announced a partnership agreement that will provide numerous benefits for the area youth hockey program and the sport itself.

As part of the agreement, NMU will designate one of its hockey games each season as Youth Hockey Night, which will include 20 complimentary tickets that can be distributed throughout the youth hockey organization. In addition, Marquette Junior Hockey will be advertised in the Wildcats’ home Berry Events Center and discounts will be provided for its players to join the Young Wildcat Club. Fundraising opportunities are also being offered, such as being group game ushers, 50-50 raffle ticket sellers and chuck-a-puck sellers.

“Marquette Junior Hockey is thrilled to partner with Northern Michigan University and we appreciate the opportunities this agreement provides for our players,” said Marquette Junior Hockey President Ryan Higbie in a recent news release. “We thank Coach (Grant) Potulny and (athletic director) Rick Comley for their enthusiasm for this partnership and look forward to an exciting season ahead.”

The partnership also brings NMU hockey coaches and players into activities to enhance development of MJH players and coaches. This is a win-win partnership that will help grow the sport locally while making memories for athletes and their families.
