Putin blames radical Islamists for Moscow attack, questions motives

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged that the attack on a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow last Friday was carried out by radical Islamists. The attack resulted in at least 139 deaths. During a press conference, Putin stated that the crime was committed by individuals with an ideology that the Islamic world has been fighting for centuries.

Despite this revelation, Putin also raised questions about “who benefits” from the attack. He suggested that Ukrainian authorities may be linked to the event and emphasized the importance of further investigation to determine the true motives behind it.

Putin connected the attack to those who have been opposing Russia since 2014, referring to them as a neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv. He believed that the perpetrators sought to spread chaos in Russia but acknowledged that the Russian people are determined to resist such evil acts.

Alexander Bastrikin, director of the Russian Investigative Committee (FSB), provided details about the attack, including a timeline of events and weapons used by suspects. Over 200 searches and seizures related to this case have been conducted, resulting in 11 arrests for involvement in it.

The suspects have confessed their involvement in this heinous act, and some have been sentenced to provisional arrest for terrorism-related charges. Among those arrested are a father and his two sons who allegedly provided assistance to perpetrators by providing accommodation, transportation, and money.

The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing; authorities continue working towards uncovering more information about suspects’ involvement and determining their motives for committing this crime against humanity. Putin has reiterated his call for thorough investigative efforts to uncover the truth behind this devastating incident.

In conclusion, Russia’s president has recognized that radical Islamists were responsible for carrying out an attack on a concert hall outside Moscow last Friday which resulted in over 139 deaths. Despite acknowledging their involvement, Putin still raised questions about who benefited from it while connecting it with those opposing Russia since 2014 due to ideological reasons.
Alexander Bastrikin shared details about the case including suspects’ involvement through confessions and court sentencing while working towards determining their motives behind committing such an act against humanity.
