The Jets announced on Monday that they have made a significant change to their starting quarterback, benching Zach Wilson in favor of Tim Boyle. Additionally, the team has signed Trevor Siemian from their practice squad to serve as Boyle’s backup. Siemian has experience as a starter, having filled in for an injured Sam Darnold in a game for the Jets in 2019. However, he suffered an ankle injury early in that game and missed the rest of the season.
Despite his previous experience, Siemian has had stints with the Bengals, the Bears, and the Saints, starting games for each of those teams. He has a total of 24 games as a starter for the Broncos in 2016 and 2017. However, it seems that the Jets are choosing to go with the younger Boyle as their starter for now.
In other news, cornerback Craig James was added to the practice squad by the Jets on Tuesday.
