The economic backbone of New York State, small businesses continue to face a challenging tax climate that has been exacerbated by the impacts of COVID-19. As these businesses struggle to survive, it is imperative for both government and individuals to take action to support them and improve the economic climate.

Government can take steps to ease the tax burden on small businesses, but individuals also have a role to play in supporting these vital businesses. Many people have unique and meaningful gifts available at small stores and shops right in their own community. Small businesses on Main Street, Market Street, Water Street, and other locations need our support now more than ever.

One way to support small businesses is through events like “Small Business Saturday,” which takes place on November 25th this year. By shopping at local small businesses and participating in this nationwide event, we can make a positive impact on these crucial businesses that are so important to the economy.
