In 2024, the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement-Rocky Mountain announced the induction of six remarkable individuals into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame. Among them was Rob Katz, former CEO of Vail Resorts. Katz became CEO in 2006 and is known for his role in launching the industry-changing Epic Pass in 2008. Under his leadership, Vail Resorts grew from five to 41 resorts and increased its headquarters’ employee count from 200 to 1,200.
Katz also created the Katz Amsterdam Foundation, which has a focus on nonprofits in mountain communities that address mental and behavioral challenges. The foundation has given over $22 million back to the community. In 2021, Katz stepped down as CEO but remains on the board as executive chairman and continues to be fully involved in the strategic operations of the company.
Other honorees inducted into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame this year include Rose Andom, Pat Hamill, John A. Ikard, Steve Schuck, and Elizabeth Hickok Robbins Stone. The induction ceremony will take place at the annual Colorado Business Hall of Fame dinner on February 15 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center, hosted by Denver7’s Brian Sanders.
