Israel admits responsibility for attack that killed foreign aid workers – Poland and Britain call for investigation

The attack on the convoy of the World Central Kitchen aid organization resulted in the deaths of several foreign aid workers, including Polish and British citizens. The American organization has accused Israel of a targeted attack on its aid workers in Gaza. The incident occurred when seven aid workers were killed by the Israeli armed forces in the central Gaza Strip as they were returning from distributing aid in northern Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged the attack but stated that there was no intention to kill the aid workers. However, he also pointed out that Israel’s military operates under strict rules of engagement and that it does not target civilians or humanitarian organizations. He added that he had ordered an investigation into the incident and that he would provide updates as soon as possible.

The organization’s logos were visible on the cars, and it is believed that the target of the attack was a member of Hamas, who allegedly fired rockets at Israeli positions earlier in the day. Various countries whose citizens were involved have demanded explanations and investigations from Israel, with some calling for an independent probe into the incident.

The attack has led to the suspension of World Central Kitchen’s operations in Gaza and the halt of an aid ship bound for the region. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for accountability from various countries and organizations, including Amnesty International, which has called for an immediate end to such attacks on civilians and humanitarian workers in Gaza.

The victims of the attack were foreign aid workers who were in Gaza to provide much-needed assistance to people in need, highlighting how dangerous it can be for humanitarian workers to operate in conflict zones where political tensions are high.
