Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL secure exclusive rights to negotiate with Chase Claypool

The Canadian Football League (CFL) is keeping a close eye on free agent receiver Chase Claypool. A second-round draft pick of the Steelers in 2020, Claypool is currently without a team after being traded to the Bears and then the Dolphins in recent seasons. Despite not being signed during the current period, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have taken steps to secure his services by adding him to their exclusive negotiating list.

Claypool’s rookie season with the Steelers was impressive as he scored 11 touchdowns and gained 873 receiving yards. He followed this up with an additional 860 yards in his second season with the team. However, his third season was marked by trades, which ultimately led to limited performance with the Dolphins.

With his once promising football career taking a negative turn in the last two seasons, Claypool’s future in professional football remains uncertain. However, the CFL could be a potential destination for him as he navigates his future in football. Whether he will find a new team after the draft or have to wait for injuries to create an opportunity, it remains to be seen what path Claypool will take.
