The Valley City State University (VCSU) Trap Club participated in the North Dakota State Collegiate Trap Shoot on April 27. Kaden Schafer, a freshman majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, won 1st Place Male in Singles Trap with a score of 93 out of 100. VCSU’s top shooters for the day included Kaden Schafer, Logan Heen, Brooke Gaudry, Grant Larson, and Derek Jacobs.
Club advisor and professor Dr. Nick Galt expressed excitement about the event and praised the competitiveness of the sport. He mentioned how great it was to compete against other collegiate teams in the region. VCSU plans to introduce an intercollegiate Shooting Sports team in the upcoming fall season.
Despite windy conditions, Schafer was pleased with his performance and emphasized the mutual respect among competitors, especially during intense shoot-offs.
