Science Teacher Promoted to Position at West Haven Higher College

On September 18, 2023, Michael Barraco, a science, engineering, and astronomy teacher at West Haven Higher College, was authorized by the Board of Education to develop into the school’s new assistant principal. Barraco has been teaching at West Haven Higher College for 11 years and is thrilled about the chance to take on a new function. Immediately after the vote, Barraco expressed his excitement and humility, stating that his key aim is to guide and help students on their path towards a fulfilling life and profession.

Out of nine internal applicants, Barraco emerged as the leading decision for the position, according to Superintendent of Schools Neil Cavallaro. Cavallaro praised Barraco’s sincerity, passion for teaching, and commitment to neighborhood outreach. He believes that Barraco will excel in his new function as assistant principal.

In his letter of recommendation to the Board of Education, Cavallaro highlighted Barraco’s earlier knowledge as an operations manager for a number of ALDI retailer facilities, which offered him with useful managerial abilities. In addition to his new function as assistant principal, Barraco also serves as the school’s Title IX coordinator and coach of the girls tennis group.

West Haven Higher College Principal Dana Paredes expressed her satisfaction with Barraco’s promotion, stating that she is delighted to have him on the group. She believes that Barraco will make a constructive influence in his new position.
