Downhill Races in Zermatt/Cervinia Omitted from 2024/25 Alpine World Cup Draft Calendar

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), Swiss-Ski, and Federazione Italiana Sport Invernali (FISI) have jointly agreed not to include Zermatt/Cervinia in the Alpine draft calendar for the 2024/25 season. This decision was made following input from athletes and discussions with stakeholders.

Zermatt/Cervinia was initially set to host the first cross-border Alpine World Cup races for both men and women in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, but those races were canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions. However, this choice demonstrates the dedication of all parties involved to ensuring the success and ideal conditions for Alpine World Cup races, taking into account factors like weather, infrastructure, and athlete welfare.

The Local Organizing Committee, along with Zermatt and Cervinia, will carefully consider options for hosting future World Cup races in these areas. FIS expresses its appreciation for their feedback. The focus is on finding the best solutions to ensure the future success of Alpine racing in Zermatt and Cervinia.
