A thunderstorm hit the Zagreb area around 2 a.m. tonight, causing many sleepless nights. One Twitter user wrote that it was an apocalypse, while another said he did not expect thunder to wake him up at 3 in the morning.
The announced change in weather and cyclones moved over our area and brought us thunder with strong shocks. Dunja Plačko Vršnak from DHMZ said in Good morning, Croatia, this weather is adequate for the time of year. However, the strength of the thunder was evident by the EMSC tweet, as many thought it was an earthquake. It shook and a strong sound was heard in the northern part of Zagreb, wrote one of the many users of EMSC, where others left similar messages.
Rumbling and slightly shaking were reported by one user from Stenjevac as well. The storm caused widespread damage and power outages in the area, leaving many people without electricity for several hours. Despite this, the community came together to help each other through the difficult night. Neighbors checked on each other and offered assistance where needed, showing their resilience and compassion in times of crisis.
