Hans K. Reisch has been appointed as the new CEO of Spar AG with immediate effect, taking over from Fritz Poppmeier who had to step down due to illness. The supervisory board of Spar Austria made this decision in order to reorganize the company and bring in a fresh perspective. Reisch will work alongside three existing board members, Mag. Markus Kaser, Paul Klotz, and Marcus Wild, to lead the company forward.

Reisch has spent his entire professional life within the company and has been a member of the board since 2001. He became deputy chairman in 2021 and has been very successful in this role for a year now. As a grandson of Spar founder Hans F. Reisch, he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry.

Magus Wild is also a member of an owner family and has been on the board of Spar AG since 2021. He previously built up the Spar subsidiary SES Spar European Shopping Centers and made it the market leader for shopping centers in Austria and Slovenia.

Markus Kaser and Paul Klotz are long-time Spar managers who have also been on the board since 2021. The proven management team will now lead the fortunes of Spar AG with four people at its helm.

The departments were partially redistributed in March 2023 but remain unchanged for now. Dr Gerhard Drexel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board stated that “We regret Mag’s departure due to illness but are grateful for his service to our company.”
