Spring break injects life into the Central Coast economy following a damp start to the year

The Central Coast in Santa Barbara, California is looking forward to an economic boost from both sunny weather and Spring break travelers. However, the rainy conditions that have persisted in the first quarter of the year have dampened the excitement.

As spring break travelers make their way to the Central Coast, the temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60’s to low 70’s for the first part of the week. Despite the forecast for rain later in the week, the influx of travelers is seen as an economic stimulus for the area, with popular tourist spots like the Old Mission, Stearns Wharf, and the Santa Barbara Zoo expected to see an increase in visitors.

Spring break brings economic benefits but also crowds which can sometimes lead to safety concerns. Recent events such as St Fratty’s Day celebration in San Luis Obispo have highlighted these issues including property damage and evacuations.

Overall, Santa Barbara is bracing for an economic boost from spring break travelers as well as returning visitors from post-pandemic travel resurgence. The city’s attractions, restaurants and retailers are all expected to see an increase in business as travelers make their way to Central Coast with warming up weather.
