Ex-NFL General Manager Suggests Outlandish Quarterback Trade for Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are in search of a new starting quarterback after Kirk Cousins left to join the Atlanta Falcons. Several teams have taken a similar approach to set themselves up for the future. One such team is the Vikings, who are currently looking for a replacement.

Former NFL GM and current ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum recently proposed a bold trade that could help the Vikings acquire Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and the 66th overall draft pick in exchange for the 11th overall pick. Tannenbaum believes that this trade would help the Cardinals clear cap space, officially begin the McCarthy era in Arizona, and address the Vikings’ quarterback issues. While Tannenbaum thinks that the No. 11 pick for Murray straight up is too costly, he also believes that including a third-round pick would balance things out.

From the Vikings’ perspective, acquiring Murray would offer a younger and more affordable option than re-signing Cousins. Although Murray’s durability remains a concern, he brings elite arm talent and athleticism that could benefit the team. However, there is uncertainty surrounding his potential as a long-term solution as well as whether or not it would be worth giving up financial benefits from having him on a rookie contract.

Overall, while Tannenbaum’s trade proposal may be an interesting idea, it may not be grounded in reality. Whether or not it would be a good move for the Vikings remains to be seen as they continue their search for a new starting quarterback.
