Venezuelan Juan Vicente Perez Mora, who was recognized as the oldest man in the world by Guinness World Records in 2022, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 114. Officials and family members confirmed his death.

President Nicolas Maduro announced Perez’s passing on social media, expressing his gratitude for the life he had lived. Perez was officially certified as the oldest living man on February 4, 2022, when he was 112 years and 253 days old. He was a father of 11 and had over 40 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Perez, also known as Tio Vicente, was born in El Cobre in Tachira state on May 27, 1909. He was the ninth of ten children and began working in agriculture at the age of five with his father and brothers. As he grew older, Perez became a sheriff and helped resolve land and family disputes while continuing his work in agriculture.

Perez’s passing marks the end of an incredible life that spanned over a century. His legacy as one of the oldest people to ever live will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, Juan Vicente Perez Mora!
