Students at Tidioute Neighborhood Charter College raised dollars for a great result in and for the chance to dump buckets of icy Allegheny River water more than their teachers’ heads.

The dollars raised by the Polar Plop was donated to Unique Olympics to give year-round sports education and competitors for thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities. “Our contribution and involvement assists athletes obtain their ambitions, reside healthier lives, and have a sense of inclusion in the neighborhood,” according to Workplace Manager Heather Cass.

The dollar war began March eight and donors could specify which teachers would ‘benefit’ from their contributions.

At noon Tuesday, March 14, Megan Minich had a total of $150 raised in her name to finish in the prime spot.

It was a mixed blessing.

Tidioute Neighborhood Charter College Teacher Dave Manning missed out on the 5-gallon bucket of river water, but, for his efforts in the Polar Plop fundraising occasion for Unique Olympics, won the consolation prize — an ice-water balloon more than the head.

“The prime 3 participating employees members with the most dollars donated got a 5-gallon bucket of river water dumped on their heads,” Cass mentioned.

Minich was joined by Andrew Waugaman and Michelle Buccardo as the “winners.”

“The water was ice cold but it was for a great result in and the students had been yelling with joy,” Minich mentioned.

The other participating teachers – Sara Robinson, Christy Valentine, Dave Manning, Joni Schettler, and Nicole Cope – did not escape scot-cost-free. They every had ice-water balloons broken more than their heads.

The technique shock did not convince teachers to dodge the occasion in the future.

“I will participate in a heartbeat once more subsequent year to see the excitement in the students’ faces,” Minich mentioned.
