Vermont Green FC, despite their strong first half performance, lost 2-1 to Carolina Core in the US Open Cup. In the first half, Vermont Green took a 1-0 lead when Yaniv Bazini successfully converted a penalty in the 28th minute. Goalkeeper Nathan Schnur made five important saves to keep his team ahead.

However, Carolina Core fought back in the second half and scored two goals to level the score at 1-1. The goals were scored by Papa Ndoye on a penalty in the 60th minute and Joshua Rodriguez in the 70th minute. Despite having several opportunities to equalize, Vermont Green was unable to do so and lost 2-1.

After the game, head coach Adam Pfeifer expressed his appreciation for the support from the fans and community. Despite their loss, he commended his team’s effort against a strong opponent and acknowledged the challenges they faced.

Vermont Green will now shift their focus to the upcoming USL2 campaign, which begins on May 18th against Boston City. The team will have some time to regroup and prepare for the new season following their exit from the US Open Cup.
