William Carey is returning to the NAIA World Series.

William Carey University is headed to Lewiston, Idaho for the second year in a row after defeating Milligan (Tenn.) 11-4 in the NAIA Opening Round. This marks the 15th-ranked Crusaders’ third trip to the World Series under head coach Bobby Halford, who has been with the team for 39 seasons. The team is aiming to follow in the footsteps of the 1969 national championship-winning team and play at a high level on the national stage.

In a commanding performance, William Carey pulled away from Milligan with an 8-run seventh inning in the championship game at Milton Wheeler Field. Senior Preston Ratliff played a key role, both hitting two RBIs on two hits and securing his second win on the mound. The Crusaders are currently on an 11-game winning streak and are determined to go further in the World Series this time around.

Players like outfielder Billy Garrity and infielder Jake Lycette are confident in their team’s ability to succeed in Lewiston, with the ultimate goal being to win the tournament. They understand the challenges that lie ahead but are well-prepared to compete at the highest level. The 10-team tournament will take place from May 24-31, and the Crusaders are determined to make a strong showing.
