On a day with rain and clouds that led athletes to adjust their game plans, Winter Vinecki earned her third individual win of the season in the aerials event in Lac-Beauport, Canada. The U.S. team had a strong showing, with five women and two men advancing to the finals.
Vinecki had missed out on the previous day’s finals but qualified in the second position on Sunday. In the finals, she almost lost her balance but her score was enough to put her in the sixth position to advance into the super finals. Chris Lillis fell hard in the finals but avoided injury.
In the final round, Vinecki came out on top by performing a back lay-full-full as the only woman attempting a triple. This led her to her third individual win and fourth overall win of the season, earning her the yellow leader’s bib. The team is now headed to Almaty, Kazakhstan for their final World Cup of the season on Mar. 10 after a rest and training period.
