San Antonio Packing Company, the owners of APCO Brand Meats, released a press release addressing the public health alert for contaminated chorizo sold at H-E-B in San Antonio. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that the affected product is “LEAN APCO BRAND MEATS ALL-NATURAL PREMIUM CHORIZO” with a best-by date of May 12. This particular chorizo was sold at H-E-B grocery stores in Texas.

The contamination was discovered after receiving complaints about hard pieces of plastic and metal found in the chorizo product. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or illnesses from consuming the contaminated chorizo. If you have purchased this product, it is recommended to either throw it away or return it to H-E-B for a refund.
