Apple is currently working on a new stylus that will be compatible with its Apple Vision Pro viewer. This stylus, which has already undergone internal testing, will support the operating system visionOS, which is the foundation of the Vision Pro viewer.
The Vision Pro viewer is a mixed reality (MR) device that was announced by Apple in June of the previous year and launched in February in the United States with a starting price of $3,499. This device uses spatial computing technology, features a three-dimensional user interface, and allows interaction with applications using hands, voice, and eyes.
Upon its launch, Apple expressed its goal of revolutionizing how people work, collaborate, connect, relive memories, and enjoy entertainment with the Vision Pro viewer. The company aimed to create the most advanced consumer electronics device ever.
To enhance the capabilities of the Vision Pro viewer, Apple has developed a stylus that will be compatible with various iPad models (Pro, Air, mini). The new version of the stylus will have support for visionOS and will be usable with drawing applications on the Vision Pro like Freeform and Pixelmator. According to sources familiar with the matter to MacRumors, this new stylus will require updated software and it is expected that Apple will announce the second version of the visionOS operating system at its developer conference WWDC typically held in June.
